From photojournalism to public art ideas and western swing lessons, there’s plenty to keep you busy, warm and out of the frigid temperatures this week!
Teton Photography Club presents, “Photojournalism: pictures telling stories with Brad Boner,” on Wednesday, January 16 at 6pm. Bradley Boner has been the Director of Visuals at the Jackson Hole News&Guide since 2004. His presentation will draw on insights from his 20-year career as a photojournalist, how photojournalism is unique from other fields of photography and the role it can play in a community, and how photo editors work with reporters and designers to tell stories. Location: Jackson Hole Real Estate’s upstairs conference room, 80 W Broadway.
Jackson Hole Public Art is hosting Moonshots 5×5 at the Center for the Art Gallery on Thursday, January 17th from 5:30-7:00 pm. Participants at the Moonshots 5×5 will present one public art-themed idea that could impact a place, event, or way of doing things in Jackson. Presenters have five-minutes and five-slides to pitch an ambitious idea. Last year, audience response to light-installation concepts led to JH Public Art’s Glow Nights project in December.

Get your funk on when the Pink Garter Theatre presents The Floozies: Power Rangers 3 with Maddy O’Neal on Saturday, January 19th. Born in funk and bred in the digital age, live electronic duo The Floozies have burst onto the scene at a time when the industry needed them the most. Brothers Matt and Mark Hill share the stage just as easily as they share a musical brain. Well versed in everything from Chris Cornell to Kavinsky, the sonic vision shared by the brothers eschews contemporary electronic influences in favor of broader, deeper tastes including Zapp & Roger, Lettuce, and Amon Tobin. 8:00pm Doors/9 PM Show
